The Maldives Meets Dubai, in Malaysia
For a long time we have looked to locations like the Maldives and Dubai for the highest level of holiday luxuries. Whilst this has not changed, there are now more contenders for excellence and one of the latest to emerge is Malaysia.
Not usually associated with the heights of luxury, areas of Malaysia have transformed from lonely fishing villages into luxury complexes over recent years. Holiday resorts in Malaysia are putting the country on the map as a place for top level tourism for a fraction of the cost.
Malaysia has noticeably entered into the market of competing for the wealthiest of customers through the development of the Golden Palm Tree Resort. This resort, which is modelled on and inspired by the Gold Coast of Australia and the beaches of Miami, is a 22km overwater coastline construction. This resort in Sepang is one of many which offer prime locations, fantastic experiences and the height of luxury. It’s targeted at tourists and travellers and aims to meet their every need.

Sepang is often referred to as the gateway to Malaysia because of its close proximity to the ports and airports of Kuala Lumpur, and it is understandably one of the richest areas of the country. Just an hour away from the capital, this is becoming the choice destination for foreign tourists and the rising middle classes of Malaysia.
Malaysia offers more than just luxury hotels, however. In close proximity to this area, you will be able to experience the international Formula 1, Yacht racing, the famous carved stone Hindu Temples of the Batu Caves, and aboriginal communities. Malaysia has a rich and expansive cultural history which will provide an endless chain of remarkable religious and natural sights. As you travel around between temples and villages, the food which is available will provide just one in a long list of memorable experiences. The unique taste of Malaysian food will leave you wishing to return before you have even left the country.
Before travelling to Malaysia it’s a good idea to purchase comprehensive travel insurance because there is just so much that you will want to try. Canopy walks, kayaking and canoeing are offered as more exciting alternatives to yoga and guided tours. Even the most adventurous of travelers can never be too safe so travel insurance is always a must.
Whilst Malaysia is not offering luxuries which are unknown in other areas of the world, this development in tourism is making it an attractive location where you can experience luxury for less. As the Maldives and Dubai become less and less affordable, Malaysia is filling the niche. When the economic benefits of such tourism are realised, there will undoubtedly be an increase in the investment and developments in the area, which will in turn increase the available luxuries along with the costs.
The next decade will, witness a transformation of Malaysia which will hopefully both embrace the cultural brilliance of the country and offer the heights of luxury to visitors. In the meantime, Malaysia is definitely a place to visit for a reasonably priced experience which will overshadow the majority of any holiday you could take in this region.
